Donald Trump’s repertoire of insulting nicknames for his opponents keeps expanding.
First came “Lyin’ Ted” and “Little Marco.” Then Mr. Trump added “Crooked Hillary” to the mix. Now he’s hit upon “Crazy Bernie Sanders” and “Goofy Elizabeth Warren.”
Looks like they’ve missed one off the list.
Mr. Trump’s nicknames are very consistent — these days, he rarely tweets Hillary Clinton’s name without “crooked” in front of it. In this, they recall a rhetorical device from an earlier era: the Homeric epithet.
And he rarely tweets NYTimes without “failing” in front of it.
For a better idea of what purpose these epithets serve, you’ll have to pop over to Scott Adams and learn all about persuasion and ‘kill shots’ and the like. It’s much more informative that this Homeric epithet typically-pretentious crap from the New York Times where, I’m sure, everyone is always reading the latest translation of The Illiad.
