This week a smug coffee shop barista helpfully informed you that your concerns regarding the threat of Muslim terrorism are silly and misguided because you and your loved ones are, according to him, “more likely to be killed by common household appliances.”
“Statistically insignificant,” he smugly elucidated while preparing an artisan aeropress espresso, “and not even worth thinking about,” he helpfully added.
“If you really wanted to save lives, regulations around the safety of household appliances would do many times more good,” he went on to suggest, smiling in an insufferably smug way and cultivating a look of enlightened sensitivity in his facial expressions and gestures.
When informed by a nearby dissident that household appliances are not, unlike Muslims, a recently imported alien threat the barista pointed out that the United Kingdom has always been a land of diversity and was made by immigrants, including Muslims.
“Ottoman Turks used to have markets all over Bishopsgate back in Elizabethan London,” he added sharing his ‘knowledge’ of history.
We at Dumb Times find the logic of the smug barista you encountered inescapable. Therefore, we conclude that all Western nations are morally obligated to import Muslims just so long as the resulting fatalities are fewer than those resulting from an already present danger.
Coronary heart disease kills 73,000 people per year in the UK. Until Muslim terrorists are killing more than that the UK’s moral obligation to import as many Muslims as possible stands.
We hope you enjoyed your coffee.
